GREECE!

Last, but not least---GREECE! We started off our trip with this beautiful country. When people ask me what my favorite part of our whole trip was, I say Santorini. However, my least favorite place of the trip was Athens. I will give Athens credit first for the Acropolis (amazing) and having great food. Seriously, never ate anything bad here. HOWEVER, 1) we had a super sketchy taxi driver one night (unlucky) and 2) our Airbnb got broken into (very unlucky). Long story short---it got broken into while we were at dinner and all we had was $100 stolen (not our laptop, passports, etc.). It kind of freaked us out and we were super cautious the rest of our trip. Luckily, nothing else bad happened to us. Athens was also dirty, and it doesn't exactly seem like the safest place (for obvious reasons), but I'm glad we visited and saw a city that is so ancient and has rich history. There were some really cool spots in Athens, but it can be kind of a one-and-done place. 

Santorini on the other hand was a dream. Like, I want to go back tomorrow. It may be the most picturesque place I've ever visited. The people were nice, the water was beautiful, the island had a lot to do, there was great food, perfect weather---we couldn't have asked for more. We stayed in the best Airbnb we've ever had that was overlooking the water and right underneath the famous blue dome. We had no idea! It was the perfect place to just wander and relax.

Ok, now some highlights of Greece!
Athens:

1. The Acropolis & Parthenon (beautiful both night and day)

3. Plaka district (shopping)

4. Panathanaic Stadium (old olympic stadium)

Santorini:

1. Walking around the cute shops

2. Hiking from Oia to Fira

3. Watching the sunset

4. Akrotiri (super ancient underground city)

5. Red sand beach

6. Our doggy friend that we met on our hike and followed us back into the city :)

Venice, Murano and Burano!

Only a few months late on these last couple posts...better late than never! 

Still fun to reminisce on this trip. We went to Venice, Murano and Burano at the tail end of our trip. They were unlike anywhere else we have been. I loved the canals of Venice, the water, and the colorful houses of Burano. These towns were beautiful and so unique. 

Highlights:

1. Gondola ride (ours was included with a tour found here) You have to do this while in Venice! So classic and romantic.

2. St. Mark's Basilica. AMAZING and possibly underrated? The inside is made of gold and both the inside and outside are gorgeous!

3. Doge's palace - beautiful artwork and also where the bridge of sighs is located

4. Glass-blowing on the island of Murano

5. Easter-egg color houses and lace-making class on the island of Burano (4&5 were a tour found here)

5. Exploring the canals! You will for sure get lost here haha

6. Our favorite restaurant just around the corner from our Airbnb (I'm sorry I don't know the name of it...ugh)
