My Take on Health

First things first. Sometimes I'm a fraud. Yes, I workout. Yes, I eat healthy most of the time. But I'm still a skinny fat person! I love treats. I love Chick Fil A. But I also like fitting into my clothes. It's all in moderation, people! (Just had to get that out there) Now here are some of my random thoughts on health.

Ways to be healthy:

1. Make the time. YES, we are all busy. But we actually have more time than we think. You CAN wake up a half hour and do exercises in your living room. You CAN go to the gym after work and before dinner, you CAN get things done on the weekend so you have more time to workout during the week. Make the time, not excuses.

2. Floss your dang teeth. People, this is not hard. It's childish, really. *sigh* Buy yourself flossers at the store. $2 for floss that you can use in your car. Done. Also, buy a tongue scraper. It will change your life.

3. Prep your breakfast! Just the other day I woke up at 7:13. I had to leave at 7:30. This rarely happens, but I had about 2 min to get dressed, 5 for makeup, 2 to brush my teeth, 2 to get all my crap together, so that leaves about 6 for breakfast. I grabbed a protein shake. Yes this works, but there are better breakfasts out there (plus that ended up not being enough). Some of my favorite breakfast recipes that I have done are these:

Mini Egg Fritatas

Filling, delicious, easy to make, and you can grab and go in about a minute

4. Do the basics. Planks and pushups really work. After throwing out my back, I learned how much I need my core. I really think planks are still the best core workout and pushups are a full-body workout. When in doubt, plank it out.

5. Water. No, you can't lose weight just from getting more sleep and drinking water. But it helps! I feel a difference when I'm hydrated. When I focus on getting enough water, I also tend to focus on eating healthier as well.

6. See a chiropractor/massage therapist. Just do it. Yes, I've thrown out my back, but I should have been seeing a chiropractor and massage therapist long before the incident happened. Obviously I'm a big believer in preventative health since that's my job, but I didn't do it for other aspects of my body. My body has healed and changed in the best way by seeing my chiropractor. This is my chiropractor who has changed my life: http://www.aznarchiropractic.com/

7. Do a workout that you love. I tried running for a whole summer and hated it 90% of the time. I grew up playing basketball and volleyball and loved it! Now I do Zumba, cycle, and kickboxing mainly and also LOVE IT. I love working out, because I do workouts that I love. No, it's not always easy, but it's fun. (Plus, group fitness brings you friends)
