ROMA!

ROME WAS A DREAM!
Really, we loved Rome and it was probably my favorite place in Italy that we went.
I didn't feel like it was as crowded or as large of a city as people say. It was of course touristy around the Colosseum, Vatican, etc., but we had great tours and never had to wait in line. I am not a huge history person, but Alex is. HOWEVER, after visiting Rome, I am now a history person. My favorite tour of the whole trip was the tour of the Vatican. The Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica are unreal. Here are some highlights/where we stayed/food, etc:

Where we stayed:

AIR BNB right next to the Colosseum
 Hotel near Piazza Novana
LOVED both of these places and they both had great locations

Highlights:
Tour of the Vatican found here. Definitely favorite tour!
Colosseum underground and upper tier tour found here
Roman Forum (also part of the tour^^)
Spanish Steps
Piazza Novana
Trevi Fountain
Pantheon
Just wandering around the city! <<<best thing to do

Food:
Grom gelato (pretty much everywhere in Italy)
Old Bear (by Piazza Novana) - THE BEST PLACE WE ATE ON OUR WHOLE TRIP. WENT HERE TWICE
Food Tour found here. Maybe our fav thing we did!! So fun, we also did it in Florence
Go to restaurants that are not by touristy areas! It's all about the ma and pa shops...walk at least 5 blocks from where the sites are and you're guaranteed to find better food

Travel:
Walk everywhere and take busses! The busses don't check your tickets if you're in a rush, but you get a heavy fine if they catch you without one.

Now for a ton of pics. Sorry, didn't edit them. I'm lazy :)

Food Tour:
^^Literally just cheese, olive oil, tomatoes and basil. SO GOOD

^^Luca, our tour guide!

^^Super old winery (basically in a dungeon)

Next 3 pics are of Old Bear. BEST FOOD WE CONSUMED ALL TRIP. Sorry pics suck.

^^Best thing I ate the whole trip. Artichoke pasta

AHHH the memories. Want to go back now. We had a blast in Rome! I'll be blogging about the other cities we went soon!

xoxo,
