Florence & Cinque Terre

FLORENCE

Florence truly is an art capital of the world. We loved Florence! The best part of this city is the coloring. All of the rooftops are red, and the buildings are yellow/brown/tan colors. It's beautiful. We ate the best pizza on our whole trip in Florence (more than once) and saw some of the most incredible artwork. My highlight was seeing Michaelangelo's David statue. It is magnificent to see up close. Of course we did another food tour, and this one was a lot different. We ate cow intestine (it was amazing) and went to the cutest cookie shop. Seriously, had a blast here!

Highlights:

1. Food tour booked here
2. Piazza de Michaelangelo (gorgeous view of the city at sunset)
3. Uffizi gallery --about 1.7 million people visit a year
4. The Duamo---OF COURSE THE DUAMO. It is unreal. Also go inside the baptistry.
5. Walked (hiked?) up the bell tower and saw the top of the Duamo up close, plus a great view of the city
6. David Statue
7. Boboli Gardens
8. Ponte Vecchio (bridge in first pic)

CINQUE TERRE

I'm so glad that we did a day-trip to this gorgeous place. We took about a 2-hour train ride to La Spezzia, then from La Spezzia, a separate train takes you to all 5 of the towns. They are beautiful and small and right on the water. We went to the first town then hiked to the second. Bad idea when you're not in hiking gear haha. It was hard. Seriously, like a huge uphill part. But the views were breathtaking. Our favorite town was Vernazza. It is so picturesque. We (meaning Alex) even swam in the water for a little bit. On our way back, we took a private boat for about 40 euros. HIGHLY recommend. The boat stops at each of the towns and you can see the colorful houses from the water. Just beautiful.

Already wanting to go back! 'TIl next time.
